SmartMark is an web-based gradebook, and like all things related to the internet and electronics, unexepected things can happen. It is best practice for both backup purposes, and for classroom pedagogy, to keep a record of student assessments as a paper copy in the classroom. One example of using a paper-based tracking sheet can be seen here

Considering the above, it is strongly recommended that you keep a paper copy of your grades while using SmartMark.
